Last week we hosted a networking event to introduce our new Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) in Engineering, Computing, and Construction Management. It was a great event, well attended by a range of prospective students who were able to get their questions answered about their next steps in education and training.
Our team provided detailed overviews of each course; HNCs in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Software Development, and Construction Management. We ensured everyone left with a clear picture about how these new qualifications work and how they’re tailored to meet the needs of today’s competitive job market. Plus, the flexibility of pursuing these qualifications as higher apprenticeships caught the attention of many in the room, who appreciated the additional benefit of undertaking an apprenticeship.
One of the best parts of the evening was seeing guests connect with our faculty, alumni, and each other. The atmosphere was lively, and the room was buzzing with conversations about career goals, shared interests, and how our HTQs could serve as a stepping stone to achieving those ambitions. We were thrilled to see prospective students from so many different backgrounds, including those who recently graduated from A Levels or T Levels, recent apprenticeship graduates, and even family members who joined to support loved ones considering their next steps.
Edward Collett, our Commercial Director, summed up the value of these new qualifications perfectly, saying, “These new HTQs represent a fantastic opportunity for our students and local businesses alike. By equipping learners with specialised skills, we’re helping them stand out from the competition and addressing the skill gaps employers are actively looking to fill across Oxfordshire.”
