Harry is a Business Administration Apprentice working at GLAM Divisional Office and History of Science Museum

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

“I did one year at college studying Business Administration, which is quite similar to this role. On my course I had to do work experience, and I really enjoyed that part compared to the college work. I thought it would make more sense to do more work experience, so I chose to go down the apprenticeship route.”

What does a typical day involve working here?

"There is no typical day because I do so many things, one day I’ll be at the History of Science museum which is across the road and then another day I’ll be in the volunteer section. I also help organise events and deal with credit cards. It’s a wide spectrum of tasks.”

What support do you get from the team here?

"The team are so great here, especially my line manager Emma who is really supportive. As we hot desk here I’m always sitting with new people and everyone is so friendly, especially being so young but everyone is kind and I click with everyone.”

Ned is a Business Administration Apprentice working at Curdle Hill Farm

What does a typical day involve working here?

“It varies each day. Normally we’ll start the day off with a plan and a group meeting. We’ll talk about what we want to complete in the day. It could be anything from making sure the farm shop is fully stocked for when it opens, answering customer service emails, working with suppliers and planning of all of our events that are coming up in the summer.”

Do you have any tips for someone who wants to complete an apprenticeship?

“Definitely go with working in a place that you like and enjoy. If you are not completely invested in your job then you won’t enjoy it. Definitely do your research in the company before applying.”

Annie is a Business Administration Apprentice working at Witney Town Council

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

“I chose to do an apprenticeship because I finished my degree in illustration and at that point I wanted a change. I wanted to try something new and I heard that apprenticeships were a hands on environment where you’re in the work-place and learning as you go. I thought it was a good way to get my foot through the door and see what it’s like.”

What interested you in working at Witney Town Council?

“This job was very different from what I was doing before. I like doing administration work and I want to do it for other people, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try it out.”

Adam, Annie's line manager expressed:

“Annie’s enthusiasm and professional outlook, along with her creative flair have helped the Council achieve so much in her short time with us, to which her colleagues, managers and councillors are all thankful for in a busy 50th year.”
