Student of the Year 2019 at Blenheim Palace

20th Aug 2019

Over 150 students, staff, friends, and family attended the recent 2019 Student of the Year Awards evening in the grand surroundings of the Orangery Room at Blenheim Palace.

Last week Blenheim Palace hosted the @AbWitCollege Student of the Year Awards. It was a great evening for students, siblings, parents and partners to celebrate the students’ successes.

20 students were honoured for their achievements across the curriculum, including equine, engineering, supported education, higher education and apprenticeships. The evening also featured a speech from the college’s new Chair of the Corporation Board, Gavin Maitland-Smith, and entertainment was provided during an interval by Performing Arts students from the College.

Every year, Abingdon & Witney College celebrate the amazing achievements of its students, hearing from our Heads of Faculty how the students have overcome challenges to succeed and stand out to their teachers.

At the Awards evening, Principal Di Batchelor spoke of the College’s successes and how much of central part our students play: “Each year we ask our Faculties to identify students and apprentices who have excelled. You are the students who have completed your courses to the highest possible standards, who have succeeded in getting what you need to progress onto your next step, and who have contributed hugely to your class, your community or the work of your employer.”

“You are the stand out students for 2018-19, and we are all here today to recognise and celebrate your success.”

The overall Student of the Year Award was presented to Tiffany Townsend, a Level 3 Health & Social Care student, much to the delight of her family and teacher.

Other winners included Bella Rowan, a Sports student who was over the moon with her award, as was her previous school:
