We are delighted to welcome Liane Green as our new Teaching Skills Academy (TSA) Coach, bringing with her an impressive 29 years of teaching experience across a wide range of subjects and levels. Liane joins the College with a strong background in quality development, qualification authoring for awarding bodies, and educational and industry coaching.

Liane’s passion for education is rooted in helping both learners and teachers realise their full potential. She describes teaching as a privilege, particularly valuing those “light bulb moments” when understanding clicks and confidence grows. Her career has spanned teaching from Entry Level through to Level 7 in higher education, alongside leadership roles including programme and departmental responsibility, Pastoral Lead, and Safeguarding Champion.
The Teaching Skills Academy, created by teachers for teachers, plays a key role in supporting staff at every stage of their career to deliver excellence in teaching, learning and assessment. TSA Coaches like Liane are recognised as highly effective practitioners who work proactively to enhance teaching practice across the College, while continuing to teach alongside their coaching responsibilities.
Liane’s approach to coaching centres on creating a supportive and dedicated space for teachers to focus on their own development. She is particularly passionate about helping colleagues strengthen relationships with students, improve active learning strategies, and build confidence in areas such as time management, organisation, and behaviour management. She also brings valuable expertise in supporting teachers working with learners who may be resistant to learning.
Speaking about her role, Liane highlighted the importance of trust and strong working relationships in education.
“Teaching inspires curiosity, fuels ambition, and creates a lasting impact,” she said. “I love watching learners grow in confidence and begin to believe in their own potential.”
She also emphasised the benefits of coaching for teaching staff, describing it as a structured yet personalised opportunity to reflect, refine practice, and enhance professional confidence.
“Coaching supports not just classroom impact, but also wellbeing, encouraging a culture of collaboration and continuous development,” she added.
Among her key strengths, Liane identifies relationship building, active learning, communication, and organisational skills as areas where she most enjoys supporting others. She is especially committed to helping teachers rediscover the joy in their profession, saying she takes pride in helping colleagues “make teaching fun again,” particularly when challenges have impacted their experience in the classroom.
The College continues to place high value on the quality of its teaching, ensuring all staff are supported to meet and exceed professional standards. The Teaching Skills Academy is central to this mission, offering a wide range of training and development opportunities led by experienced practitioners.
We are excited to welcome Liane to the team and look forward to the positive impact she will have on both staff and learners across the College.
