This course is aimed at students working at Pre-Entry levels. It has a varied curriculum aimed at developing skills to make independent choices, communicate effectively, explore the world around them and prepare them for adulthood which includes being able to live more independently.
On this course, literacy, numeracy and ICT are embedded within the curriculum and sit alongside developing independent living skills. There is an emphasis on encouraging greater social and academic confidence, travel training, cooking skills, engaging within the local community, and keeping safe and healthy.

Students can take part in various enrichment activities such as table cricket, swimming, community visits and take part in fundraising activities. Students will also access Common Leys Farm, once a week, where they take part in either Arts & Crafts or Horticulture, as part of a social enterprise, work experience project. The products they make and grow are then sold to the public and fund future projects.

This course duration is 2 years, 5 days a week, 9.00am – 3.30pm, every day, apart from Wednesdays, when the students finish at 2.30pm.

Transition opportunities following the completion of this course include progression to either Developing Independence or Living Independently. This would be discussed at EHCP Annual Review meetings to determine the most appropriate progression route.
