This free online qualification serves individuals with an interest in or existing involvement in roles working with individuals with learning disabilities. Its primary purpose is to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and understanding for such roles. The course is free subject to students meeting the government funding criteria detailed below.
The course content includes exploring the principles of working with individuals with learning disabilities, covering aspects like safeguarding and positive risk-taking. Additionally, it raises awareness of the autistic spectrum. This qualification prepares learners for employment and positions in various sectors where they may work or interact with people with learning disabilities, including healthcare, social care, education, and housing support roles.

Entry criteria
Learners must be aged 19 or above and have not previously completed a similar qualification to qualify for funding. Some courses may have additional specific prerequisites. Funding requirements can be discussed in detail upon enquiry.
Fee information
This course is free to the learner if eligible for funding from the Adult Skills Fund (ASF). The ASF is a fund that has been set up by the government to help support the delivery of education and training to people aged 19 and over. If you meet the eligibility criteria below, you can access this course for free.

To be eligible for the ASF funding, you must meet the following criteria: - Must be aged 19 or over (if aged between 19-23, you must already have a minimum Full Level 2 or equivalent qualification)- Must not have previously completed the course you are wanting to enrol on or another course where the content is similar- Must not be currently enrolled on any other government funded education programme, either with The Skills Network or any other college/provider- Must have been living in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years- Must live in England

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
