This qualification is designed to prepare learners to enter the world of work. The course will help learners to develop and enhance skills that are required for the workplace, such as confidence and motivation and will also provide a basis for further study.
Learners will have the opportunity to explore how to communicate with colleagues, and how conflict is dealt with within their own environment/organisation. They will also be made aware of relevant health and safety requirements, procedures and equipment. Recognise and manage risk by following safe working practices. Explore the principles of customer service, and the benefits of good customer service. Understand the value of first impressions, and the importance of respect for the individual in relation to good customer service.

In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.

Please note there will be no class on 21/02/2025.

There are vending machines available where hot/cold drinks and snacks can be purchased. There are watercoolers on site making it easy to refill your water bottle.There is no parking on the campus during the day. Please use Marriotts Walk or Woodford Way Car Parks which are a few minutes’ walk away.Please report to Reception on arrival. A photo-id will be issued, for you to wear when you attend classes.

What next?
Learners can progress to the next levels to further enhance their skills and prepare for the workplace. There are also other qualifications available through OAL.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
The method of assessment for the qualification is through a portfolio of evidence that the learner will create with their tutor. Learners will have the opportunity to complete worksheets, participate in group and pair work as well as completing peer and self-assessments. The tutor will also observe the learners in the classroom and have opportunities to give feedback.
