A programme designed for learners with an EHCP who are consolidating their independent living skills as part of a transition out of education and into adulthood. The programme is part time to enable students to engage with other support services who will guide them through adult life.
The course builds on student’s prior knowledge and skills and gives them opportunities to work more independently and prepare for adulthood.

The course will cover:

- Cooking and cleaning skills

- Communication and interacting with others

- Work experience opportunities

- Using public transport

- Handling money

- Personal skills

- Keeping safe

- Health and wellbeing

- Citizenship

- Planning for adult life

Course units
Personalised according to students needs but will cover topics such as using public transport, handling money, cooking skills, personal health, and hygiene, keeping safe and communication skills.
What next?
At an appropriate time depending on progress made against EHCP outcomes students could transition into Supported Living, Adult Social Care or Adult Learning.
Entry criteria
No formal entry requirements however all students are required to have an Education Health & Care Plan that is supported by their Local Authority, and places on any course are subject to the LA agreeing to fund placement.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
