This course is for learners who wish to work as electricians in the building services industry and is a stepping stone to becoming a full qualified electrician. It provides the underpinning knowledge that is needed for the level 3 NVQ and the journey to becoming a fully qualified electrician.
Health and Safety in building services engineering; Fundamental principles and requirements of environmental systems; Principles of electrical science; Electrical installations, fault diagnosis and rectification; Electrical installations, inspection, testing and commissioning; Electrical systems design; Career awareness in building services industry.
Course units
Planning and overseeing electrical work activities.

Priciples of electrical science.

Electrical design and installation practices and procedures.

Principles of inspection, testing and commissioning electrical systems.

Inspecting, testing and commissioning electrical systems.

Electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification.

What next?
NVQ level 3 Electrotechnical Services to become a fully qualified electrician
Entry criteria
5 GCSES at Grade 4 including English or Maths, or a pass in the subject at Level 2 with a Grade 3/Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths, or with relevant industry experience.

No tuition fees for those aged 16-18 and those aged 19-23 if this is the first level 3 qualification.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
The course is taught using a range of varied activities including classroom sessions and skills workshops to develop the necessary installation skills and experience. It is assessed by means of practical synoptic assignments and theory on-line examinations.
