This course helps to enhance personal or work-place skills, especially for those in customer focussed services including the caring profession and mental health workers. The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling skills is accredited by the NCFE. Students are introduced to the three main theoretical approaches to counselling: Person-centred, Psychodynamic and CBT, as well as the basics of Transactional Analysis. Students learn to identify and practice core counselling skills. Personal development and peer group work are essential course components. Learners enhance their understanding of ethical and diversity issues and identify appropriate codes of practice to adapt to their unique workplace setting. Level 2 is also the foundation level entry course into the counselling profession.

The course provides the opportunity to strengthen your use of counselling skills in the workplace and prepares you for progression to the Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies.

The tutor team includes working counsellor practitioners who have a passion to maintain the standards of the profession and encourage the best qualities within their students. Students will develop supportive peer relationships, as group work is a key element of the training.
