An introductory course that teaches coding basics through simple, hands on projects. Perfect for beginners to build confidence and core programming skills.
This is a course for the curious. This introductory course is designed for anyone curious about how coding works and eager to develop practical digital skills from the ground up. No previous experience is required. You’ll learn the core principles that underpin all programming languages, including variables, data types, logic, problem solving, and how to structure simple programs.

Using beginner friendly tools and real examples, you’ll explore the fundamentals of coding in languages such as Python, gaining confidence through hands-on exercises and step by step guidance. Along the way, you’ll discover how code is used to automate tasks, build applications, and solve everyday challenges.

The aims of the course are:• Introduce learners to the fundamentals of programming. • Build confidence in writing and understanding basic code. • Develop problem solving and logical thinking skills. • Prepare learners for further study in software development.

The course covers the following:

• What is programming? • Setting up the coding environment • Variables and data types • Inputs, outputs, and operators • Conditional statements • Loops and repetition • Functions • Basic error handling • Mini projects to consolidate learning
