Do you want to develop your accounting and finance skills while gaining industry-grade knowledge alongside a highly appraised and devoted team led by award-winning tutors? (AAT Large Training Provider of the Year 2020 and AAT Tutor of the Year 2019)

The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting offers technical training in accounting and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue or progress their career in accountancy or finance. The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting is designed to enhance the skills developed from the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting or other accounting and finance backgrounds, enabling students to maximize opportunities in their current or new employment.

The Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. Students will look at and become comfortable with a wide range of financial management skills and applications and will gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategies and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports. Students will also learn about specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit and debit management and cash and financial management. Key themes have also been introduced throughout the suite of accounting qualifications, including technology, ethics, sustainability and communication. The qualification offers a broader focus across several subject areas which enhances employability. Our AAT courses run in several different formats to meet the needs of our learners. This option is a daytime course running on-site at our Abingdon campus; however, other formats are available via our website. During this time, you will be taught using a range of engaging teaching and learning techniques. In addition, students will have one-to-one tutorials with their tutor approximately 3 times per course.
Students can expect to spend a further 8-10 hours per week outside of college in order to complete the requirements of the programme.

This qualification comprises three mandatory units and two specialist units:

The mandatory units are:

• Applied Management Accounting

• Drafting and Interpreting Financial Statements

• Internal Accounting Systems and Controls.

The specialist units are:

• Personal Tax

• Credit and Debt Management.

What next?
Once qualified, and having met AAT’s criteria, students can apply for full AAT membership, which will allow them to use the designatory letters MAAT after their name.

However, the primary and most important outcome of the Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting is that it can lead to a wide variety of well-paid accountancy and finance jobs, some of which include:

Entry criteria
This qualification is a progression route for students who have achieved the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. It’s also suitable for those who have already started their journey studying a related subject and are looking to develop their skills in accounting, or for those who have already started working in finance and who have a need and desire to attain formal recognition of their skills.

Extra Costs:

Textbooks are required to support students’ study within each unit. The total cost is approximately £140 which is paid directly to the supplier by the student. Information on this is given at the time of enrolment.

AAT registration is required to be paid after enrolment to enable students to sit the examinations and access AAT resources. This is a one off fee for access to the L4 qualification for its lifetime, typically four to five years priced at £240

The exam fees for a first sitting are included in the tuition fee. However, resits will incur an additional cost.

Learning & method assessment
Students must successfully achieve the three mandatory unit assessments and two specialist unit assessments to achieve this qualification. The proportion of this qualification assessed by externally marked assessment is 100%. All assessments in this qualification are computer-based.
