All of our full time students undertake a minimum of one week’s work experience each year; on some of our courses the requirements for work experience are even higher. These experiences are crucial for our students, and we couldn’t offer them without the support of our amazing employer partners.
How do students benefit?
Work experience placements offer numerous benefits to young people. They provide practical exposure to the working environment, allowing them to develop crucial employability skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. It helps them gain a deeper understanding of specific industries or job roles, assisting in informed career decision-making. Work experience also enhances their CV and increases their chances of future employment by showcasing real-world experience. Additionally, it builds confidence, self-esteem, and professional networks. Our students learn from experienced mentors, receive valuable feedback, and identify areas for personal and professional growth.
How do employers benefit?
As well as giving something back to their community, employers benefit from offering work experience placements to young people by identifying and nurturing potential talent, contributing to a skilled workforce, enhancing their reputation, fostering positive relationships with educational institutions, and potentially recruiting motivated and well-prepared individuals for future employment. Each year we see students on work experience placements, offered apprenticeships or full time employment with the business that offered them work experience. It really is a win-win for everyone, particularly if your business is in a sector where it can be hard to recruit good staff.
