and this December, we’re adding a sprinkle of holiday magic by introducing Abingdon & Witney College’s Advent Calendar 2024 🎅.
6th Mar 2024
On 22nd February, our Level 2 Plumbing students welcomed Worcester Bosch and Craig Manson, their mobile trainer, to the Abingdon Campus for an exciting insight into the industry.
The students began their day with an introduction to the career routes available to them, as Craig explained how they can progress from Level 2, to an apprenticeship, to working as a Qualified Gas Engineer.
In the afternoon, the students joined Craig in the Worcester Bosch mobile training centre; a mobile unit equipped with the latest boilers and air conditioning units which travels the country delivering training to academies and colleges. Here, the students had the opportunity to take a closer look at each boiler, looking at the components of each and their assembly. Craig also gave the students practical tips for offering customers a professional service and consistently ensuring a high standard with each of their future home visits.
“It was great to come and meet the future apprentices coming into the industry and to build the College Links relationship to support the staff of Abingdon & Witney College. We had interesting discussions on the future of the industry and the opportunities that lie ahead for the learners and the products they could be installing from gas, oil, LPG boilers and renewable technologies along with the potential of new fuel sources in Hydrogen. There are busy times ahead and great opportunities for the learners to be part of decarbonising the future.” - Craig Manson, Worcester Bosch Trainer
Earlier in the Month, Craig also visited our apprentices at the Bicester Construction Skills Centre, to go through components, ignition sequences, and servicing.
Abingdon & Witney College would like to thank Craig Manson for the time he spent with our students, and to Worcester Bosch for their continued support of our industry connections. The involvement of industry experts and experiences such as this is an essential part of the practical, professional, and ‘real life’ training that we provide at college.
