Our Construction Faculty were delighted to receive generous donations from homebuilders, Persimmon Homes, and plumbing part manufacturer, McAlpine, as they support our students at Witney and Abingdon Campuses.
Persimmon Homes – Witney Campus
In April, our Witney Construction department received a generous donation of £2,000 from Persimmon Homes to contribute towards the accessibility and quality of our Construction students' education.
“Persimmon Homes is actively engaging with local schools and colleges to support them by donating money that can be used towards Construction in any way they see fit. It could help with transport to the College for students, specific tools, or educational material. We have greatly received the donation of £2,000 and I am sure it will be put to good use of the coming months.” – Roger Westall, Construction Curriculum Manager at Witney Campus.
McAlpine – Abingdon Campus
Our Abingdon Campus also received a generous donation of equipment from McAlpine Plumbing Products. Upon receival of the donation, Ross Noakes, Construction Lecturer shared:
“On behalf of Abingdon & Witney College we extend our gratitude for the generous product contribution from McAlpine Plumbing Products. This support plays a vital role in enhancing our educational environment and providing our students with the high-quality branded products they need to succeed in their plumbing studies. The partnership and generosity from McAlpine is a welcome investment in the education and professional development of our students.”
Head of the Construction Faculty, Robert Rose shared:
“We want to extend our thanks to Persimmon Homes and McAlpine for their donation to the College which will help us continue to deliver high-quality education to our students.
Abingdon & Witney College first opened the Witney Construction Skills Centre in 2015, and student numbers have grown considerably since then. In the last five years we’ve also opened our Bicester Construction Skills Centre, in 2020, and our Green Construction Skills Centre at the Abingdon Campus in 2022.
Across our campuses, students gain skills that prepare them for employment or starting an apprenticeship, and the support of local employers plays a central part in this.”
