Hairdressing students embrace sustainable styling

3rd Feb 2025

Recently, our Level 3 Hairdressing students worked on an exciting project to learn about being more environmentally friendly in the salon. This project helped them understand how their choices can impact the planet.

Students started by learning how to make salon practices greener. They discovered that many items, like foil and product packaging, which are often thrown away, can actually be recycled. This simple idea helped them think more carefully about waste.

Each student picked a topic they cared about, such as ocean pollution or deforestation, and looked at how these issues connect to the beauty industry.

Students then used what they learned to create hairstyles that represented their chosen environmental issue. On the morning of the event, they worked hard to bring their ideas to life, using their skills to share an important message about sustainability.

At 12 PM, judges Jacqui, Richard, and Nikki reviewed the hairstyles and were impressed by the student’s creativity and effort. The winner was Ellie-May Pike who created a beautiful ocean inspired hairstyle featuring an octopus centre piece.
