The new academic year is officially underway, and we’ve had so much fun welcoming our new and returning students across our Abingdon, Witney and Common Leys farm Campuses.
Freshers is the perfect way to kick off college life, giving students the opportunity to meet new people, explore the support available to them and, of course, have some fun. This year’s events brought together students from across our campuses for a vibrant welcome, packed with activities, entertainment and opportunities to get involved.
At our Abingdon and Witney Freshers events, students took on the Surf Simulator and Gladiator Challenge, putting their skills to the test while enjoying some friendly competition. Over at Common Leys, students rode the Rodeo Bull, while our photobooth provided the perfect opportunity to capture some brilliant photos.
Our Hair & Beauty team were on hand across all the events, with colourful festival-style makeup, and an ice cream van kept everyone refreshed while they explored everything Freshers had to offer.
A key part of this year’s events was giving students the chance to meet organisations and services from across our local communities. We were also pleased to welcome a wide range of external organisations, including Thames Valley Police, Cranstoun, CAMMS, Be Free Young Carers, Oxfordshire County Council and the Fire & Rescue Service, who joined us to meet students, share information and offer support throughout Freshers.
Our Student Support teams were also there throughout Freshers, chatting with students, sharing information about the support available at college and running competitions and activities.
It has been fantastic to welcome everyone to Abingdon, Witney and Common Leys Farm. Freshers gave our new starters the opportunity to make new friends and begin settling into college life in a fun and welcoming environment. We look forward to seeing our students continue to try new things and make the most of everything college has to offer throughout the year!
