Abingdon & Witney College are delighted to announce that Nairne Barker, Business Development Executive at our Bicester Skills Construction Centre, has won ‘Young Business Person of the Year’, sponsored by Kärcher, at the Cherwell Business Awards 2023.
At their annual gala dinner at the Chesterton Hotel, The Cherwell Business Awards 2023 celebrated business excellence across the Cherwell region. Nairne was awarded for her outstanding work supporting the employers across the region to take on apprentices in carpentry, plumbing and property maintenance. Simon Keeping, Managing Director of Karcher UK & Ireland, presented the award and said:
“Nairne is a highly capable, motivated individual. When I met her, I was impressed with how ably she conveyed her contribution and passion for her role as Business Development Executive.”
“Nairne’s biggest challenges are changing people's perceptions regarding apprenticeships and changing the perception of women in the construction industry”.
Having been shortlisted in the top three young businesspeople in the Cherwell district, Nairne beat off serious competition to take the award home.
An organiser at the Cherwell Business Awards added:
"The finalists were meticulously chosen by a distinguished panel of judges, consisting of industry experts and influential business leaders representing our esteemed sponsors. The selection process involved a thorough evaluation of the applications, in-depth interviews with the organisations, and a collective judging meeting."
"Each finalist represents the epitome of excellence within their respective fields."
Abingdon & Witney College are so proud of Nairne for her achievement and are so pleased to see that her hard work and dedication has been recognised with this award. Well done Nairne!
