College employee finishes apprenticeship with Distinction and celebrates nomination for Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Award

9th Apr 2024

Congratulations to our very own, Beatie Kirkby, for earning a Distinction in her Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship and receiving a nomination for the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards.

Beatie Kirkby, is a Level 3 Business Administration Apprentice who has been working in Abingdon & Witney College’s apprenticeship team to help match future apprentices and employers.

In her role, she is a main point of contact for apprentices, parents, and employers; providing advice and reassurance, and helping future apprentices to keep an eye out for when relevant applications are open.

As part of her apprenticeship, Beatie chose to focus her improvement project on improving the College’s interview process, and she has also played a fundamental part in the College’s launch of its new Apprenticeship Talent Pool.

“It is hard to pick a favourite part of my apprenticeship. I really enjoyed my 10-week Business Professionals course, as it was really nice to regularly get together with other people doing the same Apprenticeship for a range of employers. Even though we were all doing the same apprenticeship, we were all doing different jobs and we had a lot to share with each other.

I also really enjoyed doing my improvement project, as I hadn’t done one before. It was nice to have the opportunity to understand the department more, and it has definitely improved my project management skills and my confidence.”

Beatie has been nominated for the 2024 Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards with Colleagues sharing the following:

“Beatie has shown incredible commitment to her apprenticeship. She is motivated, enthusiastic, and always gives 100% and whatever it takes to get the job done.

Since commencing her apprenticeship Beatie has grown in confidence and stature. She has developed great working relationships, is a great team player and communicates effectively with all departments at all levels.” – Amanda, Assessor.

“Beatie has demonstrated invaluable contributions to the Business Development team and the wider Employer Services department. As the first point of contact, Beatie ensures excellent customer service when dealing with internal and external queries to support the recruitment and enrolment of apprentices.

Beatie’s dedication goes beyond her role, as she consistently supports colleagues, employers, and apprentices. Beatie has not only shown commitment to her apprenticeship but has supported and mentored other apprentices within the department.” – Rachael, Line Manager

Congratulation to Beatie on finishing your Apprenticeship with a Distinction and a nomination for the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards.
