Following a successful private show on Friday 25 May, more than 100 Art and Design students from Abingdon & Witney College are gearing up for a two-week long public viewing of their end of year show.
“The Big One” will showcase a range of inspired artworks and photography pieces, displayed in a purpose-built gallery at Avenue One in Witney.
A mix of Level 1, 2 and 3 students from the College’s creative department have contributed to the exhibition with a diverse range of themes, styles and influences.
Rebecca Puffett, 19 from Oxford, is currently on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Photography and will be displaying her photographic project, which looks at how people perceive colour.
Visitors to the exhibition will also find 34 hand-made resin balls based around ephemera collected within Witney, created by Level 3 Art and Design student Sam Ronson, whilst his fellow classmate Olly Brooker built a kiln in his parent’s garden to create his original artwork.
Lewis Saunders, Curriculum Manager of the department, said: “I’m overwhelmed at the progress students have made over the year. The results are phenomenal and the show is a testament to their hard work and that of the staff.
We have a wide range of media on display; from paper sculpture to ceramics, photography to painting – but what they all have in common is creativity and a high level of craft skills.
We’d love for as many people in Witney to come along and see the exhibition!”
The exhibition is open to public on Monday 4 June until Friday 15 June from 10am to 4pm (excluding weekends).
