Adult learner Michel turns revision challenges into a learning app for Electrical his peers

When Michel Rentel enrolled on our Level 2 Evening Electrical course, he was looking for a way to build his skills and knowledge around a busy schedule. What began as a way to tackle his own revision challenges has since grown into an interactive app used to support fellow electrical learners.

Like many students, Michel found it challenging to remember formulas, symbols and key concepts from the course.

"I was really struggling with remembering all of the formulas in the course and the various different symbols, and I wanted a way to practise and remember everything that I could just pick up whenever I had five minutes free."

What started as a simple flashcard tool soon grew into something much bigger. As Michel progressed through the course, he continued adding new features based on his own learning experience.

The app now includes revision resources, videos, quizzes and interactive simulators that allow learners to practise wiring and testing circuits outside of the classroom. Users can even build working diagrams and see whether they function correctly, providing valuable hands-on learning opportunities wherever they are.

Michel's development process closely followed his studies.

"I'd come home from a class and think: What did I need to remember? What was the formula? What could I have done with more practice on? Those questions would then help shape what I added next."

Feedback from classmates has also played an important role, helping Michel refine and improve the app to suit different learning styles.

While the app is designed to support exam preparation, Michel hopes its impact extends far beyond the classroom.

"I really hope the app can help more students get through their exams, but more than just helping people pass, I hope it helps cement what they've learnt so that when they're out in the field, they have that knowledge to hand."
