Abingdon & Witney College students celebrate graduation success with Oxford Brookes University

We’re so proud to celebrate the achievements of our latest Higher Education graduates, who recently marked the culmination of years of hard work and personal growth at their graduation ceremonies over the past week.

Graduates from a range of Higher Education programmes we deliver in partnership with Oxford Brookes University came together with family, friends, lecturers and classmates to celebrate this significant milestone. Students completing qualifications in Early Childhood Studies, Business and Management Practice, Animal Therapy and Rehabilitation and Equine Science proudly crossed the stage to receive their awards and celebrate their achievements.

Reflecting on the impact of Higher Education at the College, Head of Higher Education and Professional Studies, Rebecca Philbrook said:

"I have seen time and time again how Higher Education within Abingdon and Witney College changes lives. It opens up accessible pathways into undergraduate level courses for those who want an alternative to university, are wanting to stay at home, stay in a supportive and caring environment and be recognised as an individual.

Over the many years we have offered degrees, higher nationals and professional qualifications, I have been privileged to see hundreds of students achieve qualifications they never thought possible. I couldn't be prouder of our learners, whose achievements, resilience, and ambition are at the heart of everything we do."

A particular highlight of the Early Childhood Studies ceremony was a moving speech delivered by one of our own graduates, Bethany Goodes. Speaking on behalf of her fellow students, Bethany gave an emotional reflection on her journey, thanking her mum for her unwavering support and the lecturers who recognised that students with autism and other additional needs can achieve the qualifications they aspire to.

Through our partnership with Oxford Brookes University, students can earn a respected university qualification in a way that works for them. We recognise that the traditional university route is not the right fit for everyone, so our Higher Education programmes offer a more personalised learning experience, with smaller class sizes, dedicated lecturers and tailored support. Many of our students successfully balance their studies alongside work, family life and other commitments, proving that there is more than one path to achieving your ambitions.
