Getting to Grips with Excel (Introductory)

This is the first in a series of free workshops that have been designed to develop skills in the use of MS Excel. It aims to act as a gateway to further learning on the spreadsheet-based application that will develop user knowledge to a greater degree.

During the course of the workshop learners will develop a level of knowledge that will take up the following four areas:

  • How to structure a worksheet as either a stand alone or part of a workbook
  • Planning and implementing the core of a basic worksheet.
  • Appropriate worksheet formatting
  • Basic formulae and functions

Whilst this workshop is primarily designed for a user who is either new to the concept of building spreadsheets or new to manipulating data, those who have a stronger skills base in the use of Excel may find it useful as well. The course is designed to ensure that learners are of a similar level of competency to allow more advanced courses to be undertaken.
