Progressive Woodworking Joinery Course (Furniture Making) offers an opportunity to enhance your continued skills learned at the intermediate level to mark out, cut and construct a console table incorporating power tools, traditional tools, and materials. This gives you the continued confidence complimenting your hand skills in producing a product for you to take home.
Throughout the programme, you'll delve into essential carpentry and joinery techniques, including: 1. Introduction to common woodworking tools and their uses. 2. Understanding different types of wood and their properties. 3. Basic measurement and layout techniques. 4. Cutting and shaping wood accurately. 5. Joinery methods such as butt joints and lap joints. 6. Assembling basic woodworking projects. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, you'll engage in hands-on exercises and projects designed to develop your skills and confidence in carpentry and joinery. This course will hopefully give you the confidence to tackle household woodworking tasks. This class will provide you with the foundational knowledge you need to get started.

Progressive Programme:Week 1: Overview of project/ product. Measuring all components, marking, squaring & gauging using traditional hand tools & methods.Week 2: Cutting of tenons to top and mid rails by hand using traditional hand tools & methods.Week 3: Shaping console table-top, using a mix of traditional hand tools and power tools.Week 4: Cutting of mortices to legs by hand using morticing machine.Week 5: Console table gluing and assembling of footstool using a variety of clamps.Week 6: Manufacturer of faux drawer fronts and decorative flutings and fitting.Week 7: Finish projects
Entry criteria
None, but you must wear steel toe capped footwear in the workshop

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
