This course is designed for young adults who have an EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan) and have basic independent livings skills, but wish to develop them further to live independently at home and in the community. The course will also give students an opportunity to achieve an entry 1 qualification alongside and if appropriate an English or maths qualification. The topics will help to increase student skills through practising independence, employability skills, and their personal health and wellbeing. Students will focus on skills needed for their individual development which have been expressed in their EHCP Outcomes and initial college-based assessments.

There is an opportunity to spend two years in this pathway developing further independent skills before progressing.

The course consists of maths and English qualifications at an appropriate, personalised level and a an accredited employability qualification at entry level 2.

Students will learn through a range of practical activities including social enterprise projects and organisations outside of college such as Ernest Cook, so that they can practice their skills as often as possible to support transfer to the work environment.

In addition, students will take part in sports, work experience and learn about being an adult in the modern world.
