This course is designed for young adults with an EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan) who are aspiring to make independent choices, communicate effectively, explore the world around them and be ready for a semi or fully independent adulthood. There is an emphasis on encouraging greater social and academic confidence, travel training, cooking skills, engaging within the local community, and keeping safe and healthy.
The course has a varied curriculum guided by EHCP outcomes which comprises of practical, classroom-based and off –site learning activities.

- Communication to support learning, life and independence.

- Embedded literacy, numeracy and ICT.

- Creative Art

- Propeller Social Enterprise projects

- Skills relevant to daily living and independence

- Personal skills – Health and Wellbeing

- Rights and responsibilities

- Tutorial

- Sports

- Enrichment

- Community engagement (road safety and travel training)

What next?
At an appropriate time depending on progress made against EHCP outcomes students could transition onto our Developing Independence course, Living Independently course or adult social care.
Entry criteria
No formal entry requirements however all students are required to have an Education Health & Care Plan that is supported by their Local Authority, and places on any course are subject to the LA agreeing to fund placement.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
