Still life painting is a wonderful means by which to explore and develop the fundamentals of drawing and painting. This practical course provides a very good entry into still life painting.
Students will be encouraged to look at things with a fresh eye, relish colour, and build confidence by developing and putting good techniques into practice. This intensive course is structured to suit learners’ pace and prior abilities.

Main topics covered:

• Proportion and relative proportion.• Composition and relationships of objects.• Colour theory.• Painting techniques including laying a wash, wet on wet and dry brush in gouache painting.• Creating a three-dimensional image of a still life in gouache by using different tonal patterns and knowledge about the main rules of perspective. • Techniques of modern artists related to still life projects.• Still life painting in gouache or acrylic with a modern abstract layout.

Please note there are no classes during half term.
