The Level 3 Sport Course will give you the fundamental skills needed to progress and gain a career within the realm of sport. You will study the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport which is a full-time vocational qualification that is equivalent to 3 A-Levels. This enables learners to progress their study into university.
On this course you will learn about a wide range of topics of the sporting industry from the human anatomy to fitness training and testing, to how sport is changing around us in sports development. You will be completing the course in both theory and practical lessons where you will be completing assessments that are reflective of both environments.

This course has been intentionally designed to give learners a thorough overview of the key knowledge and skills for a career in sport. This includes working with members of the group and developing a wider aspect of the sports industry and how to conduct yourself as a professional. Coaching and fitness are key elements of the course, and this is continually reinforced throughout the course.

The course is made up of 14 units that range from understanding and developing knowledge of the body to completing physical fitness tests and 6 week training programmes. The course offers a breadth of knowledge and information surrounding the realm of sport and as learners, you will be tasked with completing different forms of assessment, such as course work, observations and exams to show your understanding in each unit.

Each unit consists of a range of assessment techniques and the grading system is from Pass to Merit to Distinction.

On the course you will be tasked with developing your coaching abilities by planning and delivering lessons, as well as working with individuals to complete a 6 week training programme and a training diary to reflect your progress. Elements of the course will focus on sports development and how sport is changing around us with barriers to sport and initiatives to develop and promote sports.
