Abingdon CampusThis course has been intentionally designed to give learners a thorough overview of the key knowledge and skills for a career in sport. This includes working with members of the group and developing a wider aspect of the sports industry and how to conduct yourself as a professional. Coaching and fitness are key elements of the course, and this is continually reinforced throughout the course.
The course is made up of 14 units that range from understanding and developing knowledge of the body to completing physical fitness tests and 6 week training programmes. The course offers a breadth of knowledge and information surrounding the realm of sport and as learners, you will be tasked with completing different forms of assessment, such as course work, observations and exams to show your understanding in each unit.
Each unit consists of a range of assessment techniques and the grading system is from Pass to Merit to Distinction.
On the course you will be tasked with developing your coaching abilities by planning and delivering lessons, as well as working with individuals to complete a 6 week training programme and a training diary to reflect your progress. Elements of the course will focus on sports development and how sport is changing around us with barriers to sport and initiatives to develop and promote sports.
This course not only prepares you for the sporting industry, but gives you first-hand experiences of a range of sports and a bespoke program of inspirational trips and visits.

Study trips and visits linked to modules are arranged as part of your programme of study. Fees regarding these trips are listed below with further advisement upon the start of the course. A day trip and induction trip fee will be payable at induction and are correct at the time of writing:
