This course is designed to help learners gain an intermediate level of proficiency. It will also help students increase confidence and autonomy in using the Spanish language in practical contexts, with a focus on communication skills. The course emphasizes fluency in conversation, allowing learners to express opinions, describe experiences, and discuss familiar topics with some degree of complexity.
In this course, students will:

- Request help, favors, or objects they may need.- Ask for permission in various situations and respond appropriately.- Convey information and communicate requirements.- Paraphrase what others have said.- Describe problems and offer advice.- Discuss topics related to technology.

Entry criteria
This is a course for those who will already be able to talk fairly confidently in the present, past, future and conditional tenses. You may understand references to the subjunctive mood although you may not be confident in using it. There are no formal entry requirements however this is a course for those who have already studied the language at a language school for three to four years or followed a course for at least 200 hours. The standard of this course is a Level B1 in terms of the Common European Framework.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
Learning activities will include individual, pair, small group and whole class work. You will listen to the spoken word through conversation activities, CDs and DVDs, practise speaking, play games, read more complex texts and write accounts. This is not an accredited course so there will be no formal examination. However, your tutor will ask you to complete informal assessment exercises and will give you feedback.

To track your progress and achievement you will be required to complete a short document.
