"A one day workshop into the art of Roman blind making. You will make a sample blind to take away at the end of the workshop along with instructions on how to replicate for made to measure blinds for the home.
The finished size of the sample is approximately 76cms by 55cms."
"Sewing machines are provided but you may wish to bring your own including the manual.

You will be guided through the process of measuring, cutting out, and using basic sewing techniques to make your Roman blind sample.You will construct the pull function and be shown how to fix the batten for the blind. Instructions will be given on how to calculate for a made to measure Roman blind.The finished size of the sample is approximately 76cms by 55cms.

Materials required for the Roman blind:1 metre of 130cms-150cms wide fabric 4 x 6mm wooden dowels 54cms in length1 x 25mm x 5mm x 53.5cms wooden lath (to weight the hem down)1 x 35mm x 15mm x 55cms wooden batten (which will be attached to the window)2.50 metres of roman blind tape (enough for 4 folds)5.50 metres of blind cord15 x 12mm diameter plastic rings (not need if using looped blind tape)2 Cord breakaway devices (Safety Legislation)56cms x 2cms wide Velcro’s (Sew on or Stick on) 3 x brass/sliver screw eyes 12 mm diameter2 Cleats to secure cord (Safety Legislation attached to wall to stop the cord from hanging loose)1 wooden acorn or pully for cord

Please bring your basic sewing kit with you:Fabric scissors, small embroidery scissors Or Rotary cutters plus cutting board and ruler (if you prefer to use these instead of scissors) Sewing needles Tacking thread plus matching thread for fabric Tape measure Metre ruler (if you have one and a set square) Colour headed pins. Fabric marking pen or chalk pencil."

Entry criteria
Very basic sewing knowledge but the ability to sew in straight lines using a sewing machine.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
