A calm, creative embroidery course where you learn simple stitching techniques to relax, unwind, and make small, personalised textile pieces at your own pace.
This is friendly, hands‑on course introduces you to simple embroidery and creative stitching in a relaxed, no‑pressure environment. Each week you’ll learn easy stitches, experiment with colour and texture, and work on small projects designed to help you switch off and enjoy mindful making. No experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and enjoy the process.

This course covers a range of beginner‑friendly skills and creative activities, including: - Introduction to basic embroidery tools and materials - Simple hand stitches such as running stitch, backstitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and French knots - Creative ways to combine colours, patterns, and textures - Small projects such as mini hoops, patches, motifs, samplers, bookmarks, or decorative fabric pieces - Relaxation through slow stitching and mindful making - Optional personalised project for learners who want to explore their own ideas

Learners can work at their own pace, with supportive guidance throughout.

There will be no class during half-term.Parking is available on Campus. Should the car park be full please use Marriotts Walk or Woodford Way car parks which are a few minutes' walk away.Please report to Reception on arrival. A photo-id will be issued for you to wear when attending classes.Vending machines are available.

Entry criteria
No previous sewing, craft, or embroidery experience is required. This course is suitable for adults of all abilities, including complete beginners. All you need is a willingness to learn, try new techniques, and enjoy a relaxed creative activity. If you have any accessibility needs (e.g., visual support, adapted tools, reduced hand mobility), please let us know — we can provide adjustments so everyone can participate comfortably.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

Fee information
Course resources will be provided. This course includes a material fee that provides essential resources and hands-on demonstrations, empowering you to achieve your learning goals and master new skills with confidence.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
