Cheney SchoolDuring this course you will learn to take body measurements accurately and using these measurements draft a trouser block. A toile is made and fitted. Before completing pattern, adaptation exercises and producing a scaled trouser pattern your chosen design.
NB: A requirement for this workshop is that you would have made trousers and skirts previously using a commercial pattern.

Sewing machines are available but you may wish to bring your own (please ensure they are in good working order)
A4 Ring binder & 12 plastic sleeves A4 lined and plain paper Paper glue Pen and HB pencil/rubber/sharpener and coloured pencils Calculator Set square/metre rule (if you have one) Sellotape/stapler/stapler remover (tutor can provide) 3 metres of medium weight calico Plain pattern paper Pre-prepared paper for the draft Fashion curves (if you have them)
The tutor will send you any additional guidance on the materials before the workshop. Please collect ideas/suggestions for trousers cut out from magazines
Basic sewing equipment: Calico, paper and embroidery scissors, colour-headed pins, hand sewing needles, tape measure, tailors chalk, marking pen NB: Specialist pattern cutting equipment and books will be made available by the tutor for use during the course.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.
As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
