Learn the essential safety procedures for electrical isolation
The Safe Isolation of Low Voltage Electrical Installations course is designed for electricians and electrical operatives who need to safely isolate electrical systems before carrying out maintenance, inspection, testing, or installation work. Safe isolation is a fundamental skill within the electrical industry and is essential for preventing electric shock, injury, damage to equipment, and potentially fatal accidents. This course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to follow industry-recognised safe isolation procedures and work safely on low voltage electrical installations.
Course units
The course covers the principles of safe isolation, relevant legislation and guidance, identification of electrical hazards, selection and use of appropriate test equipment, proving dead procedures, lock-off processes, risk assessment, and safe working practices. Learners will gain practical experience in carrying out safe isolation procedures correctly and confidently in accordance with industry best practice.

Successful completion of this course supports progression into a range of electrical qualifications, including the Requirements for Electrical Installations (BS 7671), Initial and Periodic Inspection and Testing, Electric Vehicle Charging Installations, Solar PV, Battery Storage, and other specialist electrical training.
