This knowledge-focused qualification is designed for learners seeking to deepen their understanding of the safe handling of medication in healthcare and social care contexts. It equips individuals with knowledge related to different types of medications, their use, storage, administration, disposal, legislation, and the responsibilities and accountability associated with medication handling.
The course provides knowledge and understanding of medication-related topics, including medication types and usage, procedures for obtaining, storing, administering, and disposing of medications, relevant legislation and audit processes, and the record-keeping associated with medication. Completing this qualification ensures learners are well-versed in the safe handling of medication within health and social care settings.

Entry criteria
Learners must be aged 19 or above and have not previously completed a similar qualification to qualify for funding. Some courses may have additional specific prerequisites. Please see fee information for funding requirements, or discuss upon enquiry.

These courses are government funded. To be able to study for free you must meet the following criteria:

- You must currently live in England

- You must have been a resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years for purposes other than study

- You must be over the age of 19

- You must not be an apprentice

- You must not be currently studying another funded course.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
