Common Leys FarmThis certificate is divided into eight topics, each made up of elements covering a specific aspect of practical horticulture. The course covers plant identification, establishment and propagation, alongside key aspects of plant health, care and pruning. You will also gain experience in maintaining garden features and managing grassed areas in both private and public settings. With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, the course equips you with the practical expertise needed for effective garden maintenance and professional horticultural practice.
Our purpose-built facilities at Common Leys Farm, near Witney include commercial size greenhouses and polytunnels and a fantastic array of plant and land resources, managed by an experienced team.
As this is a highly practical course, you are required to provide your own personal protective equipment, including steel toe-capped safety boots, gardening or work gloves, secateurs and ear defenders.
Please note, a certain level of physical ability is required to complete the practical assessments. The course involves moderate to strenuous physical activity, including lifting, digging, and working outdoors in all seasons. As an alternative we offer a non-qualification course in Horticulture.
