Do you want to make a real difference to people's lives? Can you work as well in a team as you can on your own? Love spending time outdoors? Then careers in the Public Services industry may be just for you! Fitness, teamwork and communication are some of the many skills you will develop on this course.
The course offers a mix of skills and knowledge that will prepare you for working within the Public Services industry. These include adventurous activities, working in teams, dealing with the public, keeping the right level of fitness, jobs within Uniformed Services and adventurous expeditions.

This course will help you to understand what a job in the Public Services would be like and will help to prepare you for your chosen career. It will also help you to continue in education as success on the course will allow consideration for further study at a higher level.

The course consists of 9 units which offer a blend of practical and theory based learning and assessment.

Course units
The course is made up of a range of industry driven topics to fully prepare students for their next steps. These include:

• Physical Fitness for the Public Services

• Develop Team Working and Problem-Solving Skills

• Health and Safety in the Public Services

• Health and Hygiene in the Public Services

• Follow Public Service Routine

• Exploring Equality and Diversity for the Public Services

• Carry Out Map Reading and Navigation

What next?
This course provides students with the opportunity to progress to Level 3 qualifications such as the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services; alternatively, you may consider seeking employment in the Public Services industry.
Entry criteria
4 GCSES at grade 3 including English or Maths OR a Level 1 pass in a related subject plus English or Maths, and both English and Maths must be at least grade 2 / Level 1 Functional Skills.
Fee information
A fee of approximately £70 for uniform will need to be paid directly to the supplier. Further information on this will be given during induction.

Study trips and visits linked to modules are arranged as part of your programme of study. Fees regarding these trips are listed below with further advisement upon the start of the course. A day trip and induction trip fee will be payable at induction and are correct at the time of writing:

Day trip fees: £60 (this covers two trips)

Induction trip fee: £130 (Bootcamp Induction trip)
