This qualification prepares you for further learning and training whilst developing an understanding of the teaching and learning environment in a school setting.
The ten-week course will explore:• Schools as organisations • Main Policies and Procedures • Health and Safety • Safeguarding • Healthy Lifestyles • The main stages of development, from birth to 19 years • How to communicate effectively with children, young people and adults • Characteristics of Teamwork • Equality and Diversity • Learning and the Curriculum

There will be no class during half-term.There is no parking on Campus during the day. Please use Marriotts Walk or Woodford Way car parks which are a few minutes' walk away.Please report to Reception on arrival. A photo-ID will be issued for you to wear when attending classes.Vending machines are available.

What next?
Learners can progress to Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning.
Entry criteria
This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in a school setting including: young people, mature learners, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
