Apply for this course
The course includes all four skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The aim of the course is to enable you to function in simple everyday situations by increasing your knowledge in basic areas. You will start to become more confident in your own ability. In order to avoid disappointment, it is advisable to enrol at least 2½ weeks prior to the course starting. We will confirm course information two weeks prior to the start date.
You will start to show your embedded understanding of how Polish functions in everyday situations. Main topics include describing how one feels, describing people, describing environment: classroom, home and city, discussing hobbies, activities, and preferences, describing daily routines, ordering food in a restaurant or café, buying food, booking a taxi and ordering things, numbers, days, months, and dates; simple time expressions.

You will expand your repertoire by looking expressly at the funtions of giving polite orders, making requests, expressing likes and dislikes, and describing skills, wishes and plans. You will start to grasp more complex grammar:

Entry criteria
Those who have completed a Polish Beginners B course or those with minimal knowledge of Polish.
Fee information
A text book is used to accompany the course but it is optional to buy this (average cost £20 - £25). The text book will support your learning for at least 1 year. You may also like to buy a small dictionary. Your tutor will be able to advise you at the first session.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Learning & method assessment
Regular checks on learning during the lessons, plus homework to consolidate learning. Role plays to facilitate speaking practise, quizzes, gap fill exercises, listening comprehensions, video clips. Each lesson will start with revision of the previous week’s work and general recap of vocabulary. To track your progress and achievement you will be required to complete a short document.
