Create a bold painting inspired by Vincent van Gogh in this guided follow-along workshop. Explore bold colours, texture and expressive brushwork.
This engaging workshop introduces the expressive painting techniques of Vincent van Gogh, inspired by works such as The Starry Night and Sunflowers.

Participants will learn key skills including expressive brushwork, colour mixing, and techniques for creating movement and texture in acrylic paint. Through guided demonstrations, students will explore how swirling skies, bold brushstrokes, and vibrant sunflower compositions can be created.

Suitable for beginners and those returning to art, the workshop offers a relaxed, supportive environment. It is ideal for adults seeking a short creative experience or looking to build confidence in painting.

Learners will follow a structured, step-by-step process to create an expressive painting featuring swirling skies and sunflowers, focusing on colour, movement, and texture.

The session begins with a brief introduction to Van Gogh’s style, exploring how bold colour, directional brushwork, and dynamic movement convey emotion and energy.

Students will then learn to use acrylic materials effectively, including brush selection, surface preparation, and colour mixing. Practical exercises introduce colour theory, showing how to create vibrant tones and balanced compositions using complementary colours.

Finally, participants will develop expressive brushwork techniques such as layering, directional strokes, and textured application. These methods help create depth and movement, particularly in dynamic skies and flowing forms.
