Our Level 2 Music Technology study programme is a comprehensive 1-year course, designed with progression in mind. It will provide you with the necessary skill sets and understanding to work effectively and efficiently within different aspects of music production, engineering, composition, and sound design.
Throughout the course, you will delve into various aspects of music technology, gaining hands-on experience and theoretical understanding. You will be able to work in our fully equipped studios, using industry-standard equipment and software. Our experienced instructors, who are passionate about both music and technology, will guide you through a diverse range of topics, ensuring a well-rounded education.
The curriculum covers fundamental concepts of the music production process; you will learn to use industry-standard software and hardware, explore different genres and styles of music, and develop your skills in music composition and arrangement. Additionally, you will gain an understanding of sound design principles, electronic music production, and live sound engineering.
Collaboration and creativity are at the heart of our programme. You will have the opportunity to work with fellow students on projects, allowing you to refine your teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, you will have access to workshops, guest lectures from industry professionals, and employer-led briefs, providing invaluable insights into the music industry.
Whether you aspire to be a music producer, sound engineer, composer, or electronic artist, this Level 2 music technology study programme will provide you with a solid foundation to pursue your passion.
What next?
The course is designed so that you can move on to a Level 3 course, an Apprenticeship, or directly into employment.
Entry criteria
4 GCSES at Grade 3 including English or Maths,OR a Level 1 pass in a related subject plus English or Maths, and both English and Maths must be at least grade 2 / Level 1 Functional Skills.

Learning & method assessment
You will be provided with one-to-one feedback and set targets at the end of each project. This course is 100% coursework, internally assessed and externally moderated. You must pass units 1 - 7 before putting your learning into practice for unit 8, where you will identify, research and produce a personal project. The overall grade for this qualification comes from the final unit, at Pass, Merit or Distinction.

GCSE retakes or Functional Skills qualifications in maths and English are assessed through external examinations.
