The Level 1 Vehicle Maintenance Course can help you take your first steps towards a career in the Motor Vehicle industry. Through a combination of practical experience and written assignments, the course provides learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding needed for a successful career in this fast-paced technological industry sector.

Using our state-of-the-art facilities, you will learn a range of technical, practical, and academic skills to prepare you for a career in the industry, an apprenticeship or further study. The course focuses on the core automotive and technical skills valued by employers in the workplace, including Engine Operations, Transmissions, Chassis Systems and Vehicle Electrics. By studying these core elements, you will be well on your way to becoming a vocationally trained and adaptable individual in this rapidly changing industry.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to apply for the Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles, an Apprenticeship or seek Motor Vehicle technician level employment.

English & Maths GCSE at grade 2 or Level 1 Functional Skills in both subjects

Learning & method assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used including observations of practical workshop tasks, practical task write ups which detail how the task was performed, written theory knowledge papers and online exams. These will challenge your understanding of the content and concepts of automotive engineering. If required you will also study GSCE Skills English and/or maths to support your entry to employment, apprenticeship or further studies.
