This exciting course will allow you to develop your creative audio, visual production, and games development skills. You will learn how to produce interactive media, sound, video, and games through project-based work. You will have access to excellent industry-standard resources including professional HD cameras, edit suites, recording studios and Adobe Creative Cloud software.
Over the course of the year, you will work on exciting projects that develop your creative production and technical skills. This hands-on, practical course will introduce you to a broad range of media and games technologies, whilst learning about their application in the creative industries. You will be encouraged to grow an awareness of the value of research, to support your exploration of the media and games industries and learn to understand the audiences you are making the products for. Focussed project work and visits will support your learning. You will learn to identify your creative strengths and set targets for your development. Students work towards a personal final project at the end of the year.

Alongside your Diploma, as part of your Futures Study Programme you will:

Develop your maths, English and IT skills at the right level for you.

Complete 3 weeks of work experience to help you grow your employability skills.

Experience fun enrichment opportunities, including workshops, trips, and visits.

Develop your personal skills and attributes with guidance and support.

What next?
The course is designed so that you can progress to Level 3 Media or Level 3 Games Development, another Level 3 qualification of your choosing, an Apprenticeship, or directly into employment.
Entry criteria
4 GCSES at Grade 3 including English or Maths, OR a Level 1 pass in a related subject plus English or maths, and both English and maths must be at least grade 2 / Level 1 Functional Skills.

Materials - Kit: £50, Studio consumables: £10 (Total £60 payable at enrolment. You may be eligible for a bursary for up to 75% of this amount)

Day trips - approx. £20 (paid separately on request)

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.

Qualifications received
UAL Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology
Learning & method assessment
You will be provided with one-to-one feedback and set targets at the end of each project. This course is 100% coursework, internally assessed and externally moderated. You must pass units 1 - 7 before putting your learning into practice for unit 8, where you will identify, research and produce a personal project. The overall grade for this qualification comes from the final unit, at Pass, Merit or Distinction.

GCSE retakes or Functional Skills qualifications in maths and English are assessed through external examinations.
