Gain the skills to install electric vehicle charging equipment safely and competently.
The Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electric Vehicle Charging Installations is designed for qualified electricians who want to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to install electric vehicle charging equipment. As the adoption of electric vehicles continues to increase across the UK, demand for competent EV charge point installers is growing rapidly. This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the requirements for the design, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover of electric vehicle charging installations in domestic and commercial settings. It is ideal for electricians looking to expand their services and take advantage of opportunities within the low-carbon and renewable technologies sector.
Course units
The course covers the requirements for the safe design, installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electric vehicle charging equipment. Learners will develop an understanding of relevant legislation, standards, load considerations, earthing arrangements, protection requirements, charging methods, installation best practices, and the certification of EV charging systems. Practical activities support the development of skills required to install and commission EV charging points confidently and safely.
What next?
Successful learners can expand their electrical services by offering EV charging installation solutions to domestic, commercial, and workplace customers. The qualification also complements Solar PV, Battery Storage, and other renewable energy technologies, allowing electricians to provide integrated energy solutions as the transition to low-carbon transport continues to grow.
