This exciting course will enable to you cover a wide range of art and design disciplines to determine your strengths and aspirations for a career in the visual arts.
You will experience an exciting and in-depth introduction to the creative industries and learn about the creative process from concept to completion. You will explore a full range of approaches to art, design and communication. As well as extending your skills in drawing, research and visual investigation, you will learn to use a wide range of equipment and many new materials and processes. You will work on experimental and industry related project briefs that introduce you to the Apple Macs, printmaking, 3D, graphics, fine art, photography, video, fashion and textiles.

Testing your creativity through challenging and engaging projects, you will be encouraged to consider the importance and application of ethical and sustainable design principles, as well as developing a contextual knowledge and understanding of creative practice in industry.

This programme of study is ideal for students who want to explore and experiment with a range of different specialist practices within the creative industries (Year One) and then specialise in one particular specialist practice to enable further progression (Year Two).

On successful completion of this programme of study you will have gained the necessary industry relevant skills, knowledge and understanding to access appropriate entry level roles, training programmes or apprenticeships in the creative sector, or apply for progression to higher education courses.

Alongside your Diploma, as part of your Futures Study Programme you will: Develop your maths and English skills at the right level for you. Complete 5 days of work experience to help you grow your employability skills. Experience fun enrichment opportunities, including workshops, trips and visits. Develop your personal and professional skills and attributes with guidance and support.

What next?
The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice is equivalent in size to 1.5 A levels and is typically delivered over one-year of study. The qualification is ideal for students who have not decided what specialist practice within the creative industries they wish to focus their career aspirations. Students who complete the Diploma may choose to progress to the Extended Diploma.

The UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication is equivalent in size to 3 A levels and is typically delivered over two-years of full-time study. The qualification is comprised of the Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication and an additional year of study.

Entry criteria
5 GCSES at Grade 4 including English or Maths, or a pass in the subject at Level 2 with a Grade 3/Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Materials - Kit: £40, Studio materials: £25, Colour print credits: £15 (Total £80 payable at enrolment. You may be eligible for a bursary for up to 75% of this amount)

Day trips - approx. £40 (paid separately on request)

If you will be 19+ at the start of the academic year you may be eligible to pay tuition fees. Please enquire for further guidance.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
