This qualification serves individuals with an interest in or existing involvement in roles working with individuals with learning disabilities. Its primary purpose is to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and understanding for such roles.
The course content includes exploring the principles of working with individuals with learning disabilities, covering aspects like safeguarding and positive risk-taking. Additionally, it raises awareness of the autistic spectrum. This qualification prepares learners for employment and positions in various sectors where they may work or interact with people with learning disabilities, including healthcare, social care, education, and housing support roles.

Unit 01: Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities Unit 02: Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care Unit 03: Introduction to personalisation in social care Unit 04: Principles of positive risk-taking for individuals with disabilities Unit 05: Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions Unit 06: Principles of supporting individuals with a learning disability to access healthcare

Entry criteria
Learners must be aged 19 or above and have not previously completed a similar qualification to qualify for funding. Some courses may have additional specific prerequisites. Funding requirements can be discussed in detail upon enquiry.
