You will learn about cybercrime and the risks and effects it has on individuals and organisations. You will also understand routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control.
There are 3 key objectives to be able to gain this award.

By the end of the course the learner will be able to :

1.1 Identify different forms of cybercrime and possible motives. 1.2 Outline how cybercrime can affect individuals and organisations. 1.3 Describe the tactics cybercriminals use to defraud people.2.1 Identify routine protective methods to maintain cybersecurity 2.2 State the importance of cybersecurity testing. 2.3 Set up user access controls.3.1 Identify protections for and responsibilities of individuals and organisations as set out in key legislation. Qualification Specification: Cybersecurity 3.2 Describe ethical and unethical conduct in relation to cybersecurity.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

A textbook is used to accompany the course, but it is optional to buy this (average cost £20 - £25). The textbook will support your learning for at least 1 year. Your tutor will be able to advise you at the first session.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
