This course is perfect for learners at a post-intermediate or entry-advanced level of Japanese, with a solid foundation in grammar and kanji essential for success. But don’t worry—there will be weekly grammar drill sessions to keep you sharp and confident.
The focus is on strengthening your conversational skills through exciting, authentic materials like reading the Midnight Diner manga and simplified novels, as well as watching its corresponding episodes and films. After each session, we’ll dive into thought-provoking discussions on current affairs, social issues, and cultural topics, helping you refine your understanding of kanji compounds and everyday expressions.

Throughout the term, you’ll also enjoy immersive cultural experiences, such as a simplified tea ceremony, flower arrangement workshops, and even museum visits (weekend). While the course is primarily face-to-face, online participation is available upon request, though it's ideal for those who can engage fully in person.

One of the most rewarding parts of the course is the termly presentation assignment, where you’ll share a topic related to your professional field or a personal passion. This leads into a group discussion, giving you the chance to practice and expand your vocabulary, tailored to your individual interests. It’s the perfect opportunity to personalise your learning while building confidence, fluency, and a deeper connection to Japanese culture.
