This course provides the tools to engage in more fluent, real-life conversations while expanding knowledge of Japanese grammar, vocabulary, and culture.
Take your Japanese to the next level in a fun and interactive way! This course is designed for learners who already know Hiragana and Katakana, and can read at least 30 Kanji words, and able to sustain a reasonable basic conversation in full sentences, including talking about their weekly routine, expressing wishes and using te-form conjugations.

Building on the basics, we’ll strengthen your speaking and listening skills through a variety of engaging activities, pair work, and real-life communication practice.

While the main focus is on conversation, you will also continue to develop your grammar and Kanji knowledge through targeted drills. We’ll be working with authentic materials wherever possible to bring the language to life, alongside the main textbook Genki I (Japanese-only edition, no English translations).

In addition to language study, the course will introduce you to Japanese culture - exploring both traditional and modern aspects. To deepen your learning experience, we’ll also take a field trip to a museum in Oxford (on a Saturday or Sunday).

Please note there are no classes during half term.
