This qualification prepares learners for further learning and training and develops a basic knowledge of childcare in early years settings, and it considers childcare and development from birth–5 years 11 months.
The units include subjects such as the management and organisation of an Early Years setting, and the value of play.

This qualification will allow learners to gain a basic knowledge of the provision of childcare in an early years setting. The units encompass an understanding of regulations and best practice in the management of early years settings and the value of play in the development of babies and young children.

This ten week course covers the following -• Responsibilities of each role within the setting• Safeguarding• Policies and procedures• Legislation• Key Person• Team working• Feedback and review for best practice• How play supports development• Different play types• Inclusion

There will be no class during half-term.There is no parking on Campus during the day. Please use Marriotts Walk or Woodford Way car parks which are a few minutes' walk away.Please report to Reception on arrival. Entry criteria
This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking of working in an Early Years setting, including: young people, mature learners, parents, volunteers, learners with special educational needs or where English is an additional language.

Please note - you should be 19 years old or over at 31st August 2026 prior to starting the course.

As part of your course we may organise trips to assist you with your learning. Trips are optional, and you will not be penalised if you choose not to participate.
