As the UK accelerates toward net-zero, air source heat pumps (ASHPs) are becoming a cornerstone of sustainable heating. The City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump Systems equips qualified professionals with the skills and knowledge to deliver safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant ASHP installations.

This qualification is part of the Electrician Plus programme and aligns with MCS technical standards, PAS 2035, and National Occupational Standards (NOS). It’s ideal for heating and plumbing engineers looking to expand into renewable technologies and meet the growing demand for low-carbon heating solutions in domestic and small-commercial settings.

Upon successful completion, you’ll receive the:
City & Guilds Level 3 Award in the Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance of Air Source Heat Pump Systems. This nationally recognised qualification is aligned with MCS standards, mapped to National Occupational Standards, and supports your Electrician Plus CPD record. It can be printed on the reverse of your ECS Gold Card, helping you stand out in the green energy sector.
Learning & method assessment
Various styles of delivery ranging from interactive presentations and class discussion to hands on time with the heat pumps units and their associated components.

The core 3-day course is assessed by both multiple choice open book exams and practical tasks. The fourth day is a technical CPD and practical workshop.

User skills
Upon completion of the course you will be able to confidently design, specify, install and maintain domestic and small commercial Air Source Heat Pumps.
